A political contributor to CNN and NPR and frequent guest on ABC's This Week with George Stephanopolous, New Orleans native Donna Brazile has worked on every presidential campaign from 1976 through 2000. She became the first African American to lead a major presidential bid when she served as campaign manager for former Vice President Al Gore. Named one of the "100 Most Powerful Women" by the Washingtonian and one of the "Top 50 Women in America" by Essence magazine, Brazile's passion is encouraging young people to vote, work within the system to strengthen it, and run for public office.

The Emily Taylor & Marilyn Stokstad Women's Leadership Lecture is named for two women who were prominent leaders at the University of Kansas. The fund they established supports lectures by prominent women on women's leadership issues. The Hall Center for the Humanities administers the lecture.
